Friday: 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Does the doctor treat children?
Well behaved ones, yes. And kids always seem to be well behaved when visiting us.

Does the office accept insurance plans?
We participate in many dental plans, most insurance plans & unions, as well as NYS Medicaid. Please call our office for specific plans and coverage details.

What certifications do you have?
Dr. Alterman is affiliated with the American Dental Association (ADA), the New York State Dental Society (NYSDS), and the New York County Dental Society (NYCDS).  We are CPR-Certified, and conform to OSHA and HIPPA regulations. Our office meets or exceeds all mandated radiologic and sterilization standards.

Dr. Alterman holds a D.M.D. degree from the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, and pursues continuing education.

Is a D.M.D. degree different from a DDS degree?
As the American Dental Association will verify, D.D.S. (Doctor of Dental Surgery) and D.M.D. (Doctor of Dental Medicine) are the same degrees reflecting the same education. It's just that different medical schools give them different names.

Do you speak Spanish?
Yes, several members of our staff speak Spanish fluently, and Dr. Alterman's Spanish is always improving.

What if I miss an appointment?
We schedule our appointments carefully, so that the doctor can devote time to treat you properly. Also, other patients may be waiting to see the doctor as soon as possible. So if you cannot keep your appointment, please cancel as soon as possible by calling our office, 212-927-7314. Cancellation less than 24 hours before the appointment will result in a $30 cancellation fee.

Can I pay over time?
Yes. We accept Mastercard and Visa. We also provide access to a 3-month, no-interest financing plan with an immediate-approval process.

Can you get my x-rays and records from my previous dentist?
Your previous dentist should be willing to forward your dental records to us, including any x-rays you have paid for. However, to assure an up-to-date evaluation of your dental health, we will most likely to take a new set of x-rays on your first visit. So forwarding your old records may or may not be that important.
